Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Hon'ble Minister of Railways inaugurated 16 passenger amenities over Mumbai Division of Western Railway, such as  Elevated deck, Elevator & booking office at Borivali station, New FOBs at Dadar, Matunga Rd & Bhayandar stations and Escalators at Dadar, Bhayandar, Vasai Road & Nallasopara stations, Elevated Booking office at Vasai Rd station, Booking office at Kandivali station, New Passenger Reservation Centre at Nallasopara station, Skywalk connecting FOB to Metro station at Andheri station and New Toilet Blocks at Goregaon and Kandivali stations  through video conferencing, from Rail Bhavan, New Delhi at a function held at Conference Hall, Western Railway Headquarter building, Churchgate at o­n 16th May, 2017. Shri Rajen Gohain, Hon'ble Minister of State for Railways, Shri A.K. Mital, Chairman, Railway Board, Shri  Mohd Jamshed, Member Traffic, Railway Board alongwith other dignitaries were also present o­n this occasion at Rail Bhavan, New Delhi.

The inaugural functions for the same at Mumbai were held at Conference Hall, Western Railway Headquarter building, Churchgate and at Dadar, Andheri, Borivali, Bhayandar and Vasai Rd stations. At WR Headquarters Shri Vinod Tawde- Hon'ble Minister for School Education, Sports & Youth Welfare etc., Smt Vidya Thakur- Hon'ble Minister of State, Women & Child Development etc, Shri Majeed Memon- Hon'ble MP, Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe- Hon'ble MP and Shri Raj Purohit- Hon'ble MLA were present. At Dadar station Shri Rahul Shewale- Hon'ble MP ; At Andheri station Shri Ramesh Latke & Shri Amit Satam Hon'ble MLAs; At Borivali station Shri Gopal Shetty- Hon'ble MP and Smt Manisha Chaudhary- Hon'ble MLA; At Bhayandar station Shri Eknath Shinde- Hon'ble Minister for Public Works, Smt Geeta Jain- Mayor, Mira Bhayandar Municipal Corporation, Shri Rajan Vichare- Hon'ble MP, Shri Pratap Sarnaik- Hon'ble MLA and at Vasai Rd station Shri Chintaman Wanaga- Hon'ble MP, Shri Kshitij Thakur- Hon'ble MLA along with other dignitaries were present. Hon'ble Minister of Railways unveiled the digital plaques of these passenger amenities at Rail Bhavan, New Delhi while Hon'ble MPs and MLAs unveiled the plaques at respective venues. Shri A. K. Gupta, General Manager, Western Railway welcomed the guests in the beginning of the function held at WR , Headquarters.

Speaking o­n the occasion, Hon'ble Minister of Railways Shri Suresh Prabhu said that the inauguration of 16 passenger amenities at various stations of Mumbai in a single day is an important event. He said, Mumbai is the commercial capital of India. Around 80 lakhs passenger travel in the Mumbai Suburban Railways, Railways is always trying its best to provide better passenger amenities. Lifts, escalators, Foot over bridges are to be provided at small stations too. Railways need cooperation of the travellers in maintaining its property.  Railways is working with State Government to form Joint Venture so that other Rail Development projects are initiated soon. He also said that projects of station development of Mumbai area will be taken o­n priority to boost facilities.
