WR OPENS ELEVATED BOOKING OFFICE AT BANDRA AND A NEW FOOT OVER BRIDGE TO CONNECT PLATFORMS TO EAST SIDE

            WR has opened an elevated Booking Office at Bandra on the new Foot Over Bridge connecting Platforms No. 1 to 5 to the East side.

 

Three booking windows of this booking office are working in 8 shifts.It facilitates the commuters of the east side to easily buy the tickets before reaching the platforms.

 

The Booking Office has been constructed with transparent glass and better amenities.In all, five booking windows have been constructed with a view to future needs.3 CVMs and 1 ATVM has also been provided at the Booking Office.One Pole mounted Dustbin is provided in the queuing area of the Booking Office to maintain cleanliness.In addition to this, the present queuing area of the booking office is more spacious than earlier booking office.

 

The new Foot Over Bridge is constructed by MRVC at a cost of about Rs. 3.70 Crore in the north side of the station.It is 4.5 meters wide and 113 meters long.The new Foot Over Bridge connects Platform No. 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5directly to the east side.With the new Foot Over Bridge, there are now two Foot Over Bridges which provides access to the east side at Bandra. With opening of this FOB the total number of FOBs on Western Railway Suburban section has become 89.

With the increased flow of passengers due to extended length of trains from 9 to 12 car and now 15 cars, Western Railway is providing facilities such as Foot Over Bridges(FOBs), entry-exit points and new station buildings at its suburban stations for better dispersal of commuters and smooth movement.

 

Western Railway has provided 14 new FOBs in recent past at Dadar, Bandra, Mira Road (two), Goregaon, Naigaon, Vasai Road (two), Nalasopara, Dahisar and Elphinstone Road stations including 3 BMC FOBs at Borivali-Dahisar(2), Jogeshwari-Goregaon. Large number of services have been augmented to 12/ 15 car which needs better/ quicker dispersal of commuters.For convenience of commuters and for easy exit/entry to the extended platform more FOBs are provided.

 

Work for new FOBs is in progress at Nalasopara and Bhayander stations. As on date 16 more FOBs are sanctioned viz. Mahalaxmi, Dadar, Parel, Matunga Rd, Vile Parle, Malad, Kandivali, Goregaon, Santacruz, Virar and Borivali including BMC FOBs at Andheri(FOB connecting Metro), Jogeshwari (in lieu of LC 25), Kandivali (in lieu of LC 31), Kandivali-Borivali and Virar. Extention of Khar FOB is also sanctioned.
