GM WR FELICITATES WR SPORTSPERSONS FOR THEIR OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCES IN 2023

Western Railway’s talented sportspersons have achieved new milestones and brought laurels for the organization. Many sportspersons represented Indian Railways at International & National level Championships and have made us proud with podium finishes. Also, Western Railway Teams have participated in various disciplines of sports at various Championships and have come victorious. Shri Ashok Kumar Misra – General Manager of Western Railway felicitated WR's sportspersons for their outstanding performance at a function held on 25th May, 2023 at Mahalaxmi Sports Ground. This was followed by a friendly cricket match between the teams of WR Headquarters & Mumbai Central Division.
According to a press release issued by Public Relations Department of Western Railway, on this occasion while addressing the gathering, GM Shri Misra emphasised that the players have given their best and competed with a spirit of sportsmanship. GM appreciated the years of hard work & dedication put in by each and every sportsperson of WR towards training and achieving accolades not only for Railways but also for the Nation. He also said that behind every great athlete is an inspiring coach. He congratulated and extended words of praise to the sports coaches and the officials of Western Railway Sports Association who have helped in planning and executing meticulous practice sessions. Shri Misra said that this felicitation ceremony will motivate and encourage the players to excel and bring laurels of national and international merits.
GM Shri Misra felicitated Shri P Suresh – Gold Medallist, Asian Powerlifting Championship; Amit Patil, member of Indian Kho – Kho Team which won Gold Medal in the 4th Asian Kho – Kho Campionship; Shri Rupin – Silver Medallist in Wrestling (Greco – Roman style), Asian Wrestling Championship; Shri Rohit Dahiya, Wrestling (Greco – Roman style), Asian Wrestling Championship;Ms. Rajeshwari Gaykwad – World Cup (Women’s Cricket) and Ms. Navneet Kaur – (Women’s Hockey). Shri Misra also felicitated several National- Level sportspersons for their phenomenal performance in the various National sporting events.
