Vigilance Department of Western Railway is headed by Senior Deputy General Manager & Chief Vigilance Officer (SDGM & CVO).

He has for his assistance two Chief Vigilance Officers viz. CVO (Elec./S&T) and four Dy. Chief Vigilance Officers viz. Dy. CVO(S), Dy. CVO(Engg.), Dy. CVO(A) & Dy. CVO(T).  There are four SS/JS Officers for further assistance. There are thirty-three Vigilance Inspectors to conduct vigilance checks & a centralized office at Churchgate.


(B)  Functions of Organization –

(1)   To conduct preventive check.

(2)   To investigate genuine complaints.

(3) To advise for suspension / transfer / DAR or Administrative action against defaulted railway employees and Administrative action against defaulted contractor / Agent / Firm engaged in railway contract.

(4) To hold Vigilance Seminar, lectures, etc. to educate Railway employee to curb corruption and to promote transparency.

(5)  To provide service to executive department by giving Vigilance history to management at various occasions as well as to liaise with Railway Board, CBI, CVC & ACB.

(6)  To suggest the system improvement as per merit of case to plug loop holes in the system.
