WESTERN RAILWAY GENERATES MORE REVENUE FROMLEASETENDERSTHROUGHSUSTAINEDMARKETINGEFFORTS& WINNING THE TRUST OF INDUSTRY

Mumbai Division of WR awards two contracts & is in process of 9 others for leasing SLRs

Western Railway in wake of COVID is ensuring to continue thetransportation of essential items like medical supplies, medical equipment, food, e-Commerce, etc. in allparcelsizes acrossthenationthroughitsParcel trains/SLRs attachedtospecialExpresstrains. WR continues to break all barriers in achieving impressive performance in many fields under the dynamic leadership and able guidance of Shri Alok Kansal- General Manager, Western Railway who always motivates the officers and staff for achieving higher goals.

According to a press release issued by Shri Sumit Thakur- Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Rly, in the current financial year, Western Railway’s Mumbai Division has awarded freshcontract for leasing of parcel van in Train 02951 Mumbai Central – New Delhi Rajdhani Expressgenerating revenueof Rs 17.76 Cr. per annum. The offer received of Rs 4,86,666/- per round trip, is 96.66% higher, as comparedto reserve price of Rs. 2,47,464/- per round trip. This will thus fetch totalrevenue of Rs. 94.37 Cr in 5 years. Similarly, in Train 02955 Mumbai Central - Jaipur Express, contract for leasing ofparcel van was awarded generating revenue of Rs. 5.36 Cr. per annum and Rs.28.52 Cr in 5years. It is pertinent to mention here that, Mumbai Division is also in process of finalization of offers received for 12 SLR tenders whichshall generate revenue of Rs 3.92 Cr per annum additionally with total revenue of Rs 20.86 Cr in5years.

Shri Thakur further added that intheyear2020-21,MumbaiDivisionsuccessfullyawarded09freshparcelleasingcontracts generating annual revenue of Rs 4.76 Cr and 5 year revenue of Rs 23.84 Cr. It is noteworthy to comprehend the trustof the industries towards the professional approach & services offered by WR’s BusinessDevelopment Unit. For SLR lease contract of Train 02951 Mumbai Central – New Delhi Rajdhani Express, WR’sMumbai Division succeeded in getting offer of Rs. 46,901/- per trip, which is more compatible than the prevailing market rate and will thereby generate annual revenue of Rs 1.71 Cr and Rs 9.09 Cr in 5years.

Western Railway with its Business Development Units set up at headquarters and over all its six divisions is scaling new heights in spite ofchallengingsituationduetoCovidpandemic.Inlastfinancialyear2020-21,MumbaiDivision’srevenuethroughparceloperationstoodat Rs68.39CrsurpassingthetargetofRs 58.63 Cr by 16.65%. It also achieved highest parcel revenue ofRs 10.82 Cr in March 2021 &highest single day revenue of Rs 67.43 lakh was recorded o­n 23rd March, 2021. Under Kisan RailSchemetilldate, Mumbai Division has loaded total79rakes from Dahanu Rd& Amalsad to Adarsh Nagar Delhi.18000tonnesof fruits were transported, generatingrevenue of Rs 06.01Cr. All possible efforts are being made to increase the revenue through transportation of commodities by various means including leasing of SLRs.
