HUNGRY FOR CARGO – WR MEETS FREIGHT CUSTOMERS

In light of Hon’ble MR’s vision for enhancing freight traffic with a dictum of ‘Hungry for Cargo’,a web conference with Freight Customers was held o­n 7th September 2021. The web conference was presided over by Shri Alok Kansal - General Manager of Western Railway. o­n this occasion, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Principal Chief Operations Manager and other Principal Heads of Departments of Western Railway were also present, while Divisional Railway Managers with Senior Divisional Commercial Managers and Senior Divisional Operating Managers were present through web from their Divisional headquarters.

According to a press release issued by Shri Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer, Western Railway, more than 40 representatives of various parties dealing with Railways participated in the Webinar, including major customers like Adani Port, Reliance Industries, Gandhidham Chamber of Commerce, IFFCO, GNFC, Ultratech cement, Wonder cement, CTA Logistics, KRIBHCO, TCL, Amazon, Flipkart etc.

On this occasion, Shri Alok Kansal - General Manager of Western Railway, thanked all the esteemed freight customers for their continued support. He requested the customers to furnish the expected growth in their production and their requirement for moving the traffic o­n rail during the next 7 months, to enable the railways to offer the best serivces. GM assured them that the traffic shall be moved at a more faster pace. He also said that efforts shall be taken to provide competitive rates to the customer so as to have a win - win situation. He urged the PFT customers to fulfill the traffic commitment made by them in the Detailed Project Report (DPR). He urged the customers to increase their share of loading and the lead of the traffic. Shri Kansal assured the freight customers of every possible help and further quoted a beautiful phrase “ You take o­ne step – WR shall take two steps”. He further added that Railways is o­ne mode of transport which is a clean, cheaper as well as a speedier. Transporting goods by train provides benefits to the environment by reducing carbon footprints, including energy-efficiency and sustainability, as it reduces supply chain costs, allowing Indian businesses to be more competitive in the global market. A myriad of services with unmatched benefits is o­n the offer for the transportation needs such as Timetabled Movement, Single/Multi-Point Movement and real-time Track and Trace of your cargo, etc. He said that many more major proposals are in the anvil to provide ease of business to customers of which they can take benefit of.

 

Principal Chief Commercial Manager of WR welcomed all the participants and apprised them of the Goods and Parcel Revenue status of Western Railway. Freight constitutes two streams Goods and Parcel traffic in Railway Terms and accordingly he apprised the forum o­n the performance of WR from April’21 to August’21. The revenuethrough Goods traffic in this financial year is more than Rs. 4300 Cr and by end of the F.Y it is likely to cross Rs. 11000 Cr. Similarly, in the parcel segment from April’21 to August’21 the revenue earned is around Rs. 100 Cr. and by end of this F.Y it is also likely to achieve around Rs. 250 Cr. He requested all the esteemed customers to contribute through offering cargo to Railways and he assured to extend a supportive hand at all times. Welcome address of this webinar was given by Chief Commercial Manager (Freight Marketing) of WR, it was 4th Web Conference in last 1 ½ year over WR with freight customers. Various freight customers appreciated Western Railway’s approach of extending a supportive hand by providing various kinds of relaxations for easing out activities involved in transportation through freight trains and offering various incentives through change in various policies. All the queries of the customers were promptly addressed during the conference under a very healthy atmosphere. This webinar was attended by almost 90 participants.
