‘NO TOBACCO WEEK’

“World No Tobacco Day” is annually observed on 31st May around the world to spread awareness about the ill effects of tobacco. on this occasion, Western Railway’s Jagjivan Ram Hospital is conducting a week-long social awareness initiative among patients, caregivers, hospital staff and doctors. The campaign is being conducted on offline as well as online platform under leadership ofDr. Hafizzunisa - Medical Director ofJagjivan Ram Hospital, Mumbai Central.
According to a press release issued by Shri Sumit Thakur – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the awareness campaign has been organized throught week which comprises of various awareness activities like anti-tabacco awareness talks by Dr. Anuja Kulkarni, broadcasting of slogans, pledge to quit tobacco, street play, live skit from JRH staff, audio-visual display, short video films demonstration, virtual poster exhibition with special emphasis on oral cancers, tabacco related health diseases, live testimony from patients &informative and engaging brief talks from renowned faculty members and senior dietician. Besides the event is being highlighted withan active participation on offline platform with slogans, messages from the attendees. In addition, this time tobacco cessation counselling isbeing undertaken throughout the week with the support from eminent faculty and social workers from renowned Preventive oncology department of TMH, Mumbai. An interactive guest lecture is also being organized by eminent faculty in upcomimg week on Theme : ‘We Need food and not Tobacco ‘fordoctors of JRH.
