WR COMES DOWN HEAVILY o­n TICKETLESS TRAVEL
DURING OCTOBER, 2012
Recovers Rs.584.34 Lakhs from 164337 cases

In its endeavour to provide better services to its bonafide rail users and
also to check ticketless travel and other such irregularities, WR conducted regular
checks during October, 2012 wherein 164337 cases of ticketless/irregular travel
including unbooked luggage cases were detected resulting into a recovery of Rs.
584.34 lakhs. Similarly, 469 cases of illegal transfer of reserved tickets were
detected and an amount of Rs.3,57,380/- was realized.

During the same period, 1024 beggars and unauthorized hawkers were
apprehended. They were evicted, prosecuted and fined. 68 persons were sent to
jail.

During this month, 198 checks were conducted against touts and other anti-
social elements. As a result, 363 persons were apprehended and got prosecuted
under various sections of Railways Act. 353 persons were fined while 4 were sent
to jail.

603 beggars were detected and removed from Railway premises by
Surakshini Squad during the month of Oct, 2012.

WR urges all rail users to buy proper railway ticket and travel with
dignity.
