ESCALATOR AT BORIVALI STATION FROM JANUARY 1
Western Railway will open the newly installed escalator at Borivali station for the convenience of passengers on 1st January, 2014. It will provide comfort and convenience especially to senior citizens and differently abled. This is the third escalator on Suburban Section and 9th on Western Railway.
The newly installed escalator is meant for heavy duty public service. It has a capacity of 9000 persons per hour with a speed of 0.5 mtr per second. It has been installed on Platform no 6A on east side of borivali Station connecting the North end Foot Over bridge. Built at a cost of approximately 60 lakh, it has an inclination of 30 degree and a height of 6 metres with steps width of 1 metre. A cover shed has also been provided on this escalator.
WR plans to provide escalators at 60 more Escalators of which 25 are for Mumbai Suburban.
