ESCALATOR AT BORIVALI STATION FROM JANUARY 1

            Western Railway will open the newly installed escalator at Borivali station for the convenience of passengers o­n 1st January, 2014. It will provide comfort and convenience especially to senior citizens and differently abled. This is the third escalator o­n Suburban Section and 9th o­n  Western Railway.

            The newly installed escalator is meant for heavy duty public service. It has a capacity of 9000 persons per hour with a speed of 0.5 mtr per second. It has been installed o­n Platform no 6A o­n east side of borivali Station connecting the North end Foot Over bridge. Built at a cost of approximately 60 lakh, it has an inclination of 30 degree and a height of 6 metres with steps width of 1 metre.  A cover shed has also been provided o­n this escalator.

            WR plans to provide escalators at 60 more Escalators of which 25 are for Mumbai Suburban.
