WR will organise an exhibition from 11th April, 2011 to 16th April, 2011 on the occasion of its 56th Railway Week at Churchgate Station Concourse. It will remain open for the public from 10.00 am to 07.00 pm. during this period.
The exhibition will showcase the glorious past, vibrant present and promising future of the Western Railway. The viewers would be transported in the 1950s by the display of rare photographs of inauguration of Western & Central Railways on 5th November, 1951. They can also have a glimpse of the first Railway Week function of Western Railway which was held from 10th to 16th April, 1956.
Besides rare photographs of past, the exhibition will also showcase the present services/achievements/technological advancements etc of Western Railway. The exhibition will also display interesting models and working models. Railway enthusiasts can also purchase various interesting books on railways and attractive Heritage Greeting Cards from the Book Sale Counter. WR will organise a quiz competition in which a questionnaire will be given to the participants about the working of the railway system. The participant will have to give a slogan too. The winner will be selected on the basis of his answers and the slogan. The lucky winner will be awarded with complimentary passes of Bharat Darshan tour for two, courtesy Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation.
Formed on 5th November, 1951, WR is going to complete 60 years in November, this year. The viewers can visit WR's journey from its rich past to its dynamic present though the rare black & white and colour photographs.
GM WR Shri Kul Bhushan will inaugurate this exhibition at 10.00 hrs on Monday, 11th April, 2011. There will be no entry fee for the exhibiton.
