Western Railway conducted extensive drives against the touting activities at Passenger Reservation Centres . During the current year (upto May ), Total 180 touts were apprehended and prosecuted in court in which 16 touts were convicted and an amount of Rs 38,000/-was realised as fine & 164 persons are under trial/enquiry. Whereas 184 touts were apprehended in the year 2010 out of which 15 were convicted & and an amount of Rs 34,450/- was realised as fine.
WR also took action against the offenders under various sections of Railways Act. During the current year 2011 ( upto May ) 69,185 persons were apprehended and prosecuted and an amount of Rs 1,05,69303 /- was realised as fine while 484 persons sent to jail .
Besides, 71 cases of theft were detected with recovery of stolen property worth Rs 5,04,972. 155 persons were arrestedin this connection.
