PRESENCE OF MIND AND ALERTNESS BY TICKET EXAMINER SAVES CHILD AT SURAT STATION

Western Railway’s Travelling Ticket Examiner with his presence of mind and alertness proved to be a saviour for a 2 year old child.

According to a press release issued byShri Sumit Thakur- Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Rly, o­n 19th August, 2020, a couple Mr & Mrs Mohammad aged about 21years, along with their 2 year old girl were travelling from Vapi to Surat in the second class coach ofTrain No 02955 Mumbai Central – Jaipur special. The couple along with the child alighted from the train at Surat station o­n platform no 1. They were walking ahead o­n the platform unaware that their baby girl who was walking behind them had fallen o­n the tracks near S-5 coach. This was noticed by Shri K S Solanki, Travelling Ticket Examiner of Western Railway who was manning S-3, S-4 & S-5 coaches. Shri Solanki saw that the train was about to start, since the alright green signal had been given. Showing his presence of mind he ran into the first cabin of S4 and immediately pulled the Alarm Chain to stop the train from moving and returned back to the spot, where the child had fallen. Shri Solanki with the help of passengers helped to remove the child and bring her safely over the platform. Thereafter, the family was attended by RPF. Shri Solanki’salertness helped to save the life of the little girl, for which the parents were highly grateful. In the past too, Western Railway employees have always gone beyond their call of duty to render their valuable services to passengers.
