WESTERN RAILWAY TOOK INITIATIVE TO CONDUCT COVID 19 SCREENING & DETECTION CAMPS FOR ITS EMPLOYEES & THEIR FAMILIES

Western Railway is leading the fight against COVID 19 at its Jagjvan Ram Hospital successfully with the help of its brave Corona warriors. Now it has taken initiative to conduct COVID 19 screening & detection camps for its employees & their families in association with MCGM. First such initiative was taken as the camp was held at Badhwar Park railway colony. While 2nd such initiative was ensured with the camp conducted at WR's HQ office, Churchgate. This noble initiative has been ensured as per the directives of Shri Alok Kansal - General Manager of Western Railway.
According to a press release issued by Shri Sumit Thakur- Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Rly, a Covid 19 Testing Camp for screening & detection of COVID 19 has been organised by Western Rly, at WR HQ office, Churchgate. This COVID 19 detection Camp for Free Rapid, Antigen & RT PCR, Throat & Nasopharyngeal Swab Tests, is conducted for Staff & Officers of W. Rly’s Headquarter Office by Medical department in coordination with BMC.This camp is being held for six days which commenced from 7th September, 2020 covering all the departments of Headquarter office in different batches. As a part of Unlocking phase, asymptomatic & symptomatic early COVID 19 cases can be detected in the camp & positive patients will be isolated to prevent further spread. on 1st day of the camp, 105 RT-PCR & Rapid antigen tests were conducted. one asymptomatic employee was found positive among 54 Rapid antigen tests, who was immediately shifted to isolation facility.
Shri Thakur stated that such a Testing Camp was also held at the Railway Officer’s Colony at Badhwar Park from 21stto 29th August, 2020, in which 546 tests were conducted.The Railway officers, their family members & staff residing in the colony were screened, tested and advised accordingly for further treatment or isolation.
Shri Thakur stated that Western Rly is leading against the toughest challenges tofight with COVID 19 in all possible ways. WR has put in place essential systems for COVID management at Jagjivan Ram Hospital right from the initial stages.Later the hospital has developed & augmented its COVID handling capabilities by inducting additional medical and paramedical staff. JRH has also been approved for PLASMA therapy by ICMR and it has in-house facility for plasmapheresis, wherein plasma has been collected from COVID recovered patients. The entire efforts of Western Railway along with medical fraternity of Jagjivan Ram Hospital have been well appreciated at different levels. Till now total 1729 Positive COVID 19 patients have been fully recovered & discharged from Jagjvan Ram Hospital.
