WESTERN RAILWAY CONTINUES TO SERVE THE NATION BY RUNNING THREE MORE OXYGEN EXPRESS TRAINS

274 TONNES OF LIQUID MEDICAL OXYGEN SENT TO DELHI FROM HAPA

 

20 TONNES MORE LMO SENT TO DELHI FROM MUNDRA PORT, GUJARAT

 

TILL NOW, WESTERN RAILWAY HAS RUN TOTAL 12 OXYGEN EXPRESS TRAINS CARRYING APPROX. 1029 TONNES OF LMO

Keeping in pace with Indian Railways efforts of running Oxygen Express trains to various states across the country, Western Railway has run three more Oxygen Express carrying Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) thereby strengthening the united fight against COVID-19 and for bringing relief to the COVID patients and their families.

According to a press release issued by Shri Sumit Thakur – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, o­n 8th May, 2021, Western Railway has run two Oxygen Express trains towards Delhi region. o­ne of the Oxygen Express departed from Hapa in Gujarat at 04.45 hrs o­n 8th May, 2021 for Delhi Cantt., consisting of 6 tankers which contained 130 tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen. Similarly, the other Oxygen Express for Delhi Cantt. from Hapa departed at 11.25 hrs o­n the same day, consisting of 8 tankers & containing 144 tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen. These Tankers have been provided by M/s Reliance Industries, Jamnagar. It will reach Delhi Cantt. in the morning of 9th May, 2021 after covering a distance of 1105 km. These tankers will be distributed & made available for Delhi as well as Uttar Pradesh. Yet another Oxygen Express departed from Mundra Port for Patli, near Delhi at 21.00 hrs o­n 7th May, 2021 carrying 20 tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen in a tanker supplied by M/s. Adani Logistics Ltd. It reached its destination o­n 8th May, 2021.

Shri Thakur stated that till now, Western Railway has run 12 Oxygen Express trains & transported approx. 1029 tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO). These trains are given top priority and are run with all safety measures, being a cryogenic cargo. The trains are being run at an average speed of about 53 – 56 kmph by providing a through corridor, so that they could reach the destination within the shortest possible time.

Overcoming all hurdles and finding new solutions, Indian Railways is continuing its journey of bringing relief by delivering Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) to various states across the country in a mission mode. With Oxygen Express, Railways is ensuring that the medical oxygen is made available to COVID-19 patients, thus bringing respite to the patients who are in dire need of oxygen. So far, upto 7th May, 2021, Indian Railways has delivered more than 2960 MT of LMO in 185 tankers to various states across the country.
