Engineering Openline

Engineering (Open line) department undertakes the O&M of Civil Engineering infrastructure for Western Railway like :

Permanent Way ( Track)

Railway Bridges including ROB/RUB

Railway Stations and other service buildings & Sheds

Railway Colonies and other welfare buildings

Engineering department is organised on functional basis. Each functional unit is headed by Chief Engineer under over all control of Principal Chief Engineer.

The duties performed by the Officers are the same as that

 of supervisory and decision making.

Besides this, Office Orders are also issued from time to

time whenever any changes in the duty list of

Officers/Branches are undertaken. The same are available

 The public interference is covered by commercial 

department,through Railway User’s consultative

No such committee specific to Engineering department exist.

·   It is decided by Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Railway to specified grade of officers & staff. This item is dealt by Accounts department.

The budget allocated to each of its agency, indicating the particulars of all plans, proposed expenditures and reports on disbursements made;

Does not pertains to Engineering Department.

     Information relating to organization, its evolution, budget speech, budget highlights, tourist facilities, passenger information, train information, availability of accommodation, status of tickets, internet booking of tickets, a number of codes/manuals, etc. have already been made available on Western Railway website,
