The Materials Management function on Western Railway is vested with the 'Stores' department headed by the Principal Cheif Material Manager, who is the principal head of the department directly reporting to the General Manager. The PCMM is assisted by four SAG level officers designated as Chief Materials Manager.

(i)

The particulars of its organization, functions and duties

·The Material Management Department (PCMM Office ) is responsible for the activities related to procurement of various types of material required for maintenance of various types of Rolling stock and other Assets of Western Railways.  This works includes procurement of material on timely basis and coordination with other department for the availability of material, arranging sale of various types of scrap materials

·The Principal Chief Material Manager, as Head of the Stores Department, is responsible to the General Manager for the efficient working of the Stores Department.  He is assisted by Officers in different grades at the Head Quarter office and in the Divisions including Area Officers where provided. · In PCMM Office various instructions were issued from time to time as per instructions given by Railway Board.Same is being followed.
